High Time Now!!!!!


Its around 1:15 in the night and I logged on to rediff to check if everything is fine in the city after the Cauvery verdict. What i get to read is blogs and opinions of "educated" people over the entire issue. And after reading them, i seriously asked a question to myself, is there any difference between an educated engineer or an illiterate, politically driven anti-social element.

There was absolute hatred between two groups of people. They were talking about throwing each other from their states. "Their" states!!! Just because you were born there, You speak the local language, Do u own the state?? Do you have the authority to decide who gets to live and who has to be thrown out?? Class 5 civics book said, "You have the right to live anywhere in India and choose any religion". "SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC". Sounds familiar. yes its from the preamble of India. All that now seems to be an absurd joke.

And that is not enough. There were a few who demanded a free nation state for karnataka, and a few demanding karnataka to be converted into a union territory if they fail to follow today's verdict. Now isn't that hilerious. Why can't we live as Indians?? Why do we have to be a Bihari or a Tamil or a Kanadigan first?? There are numerous other problems which should be solved rather than fighting over region and water. Yes water is important but that can be solved in a less violent way. Review the verdict, appeal for it if one party feels it is biased. But take an educated and rational approach towards the whole problem.

I am absolutely taken aback after reading the blogs. Cos they are from the educated section of the community. One who knows that what the power of media is. I can just hope what happened in the past is not repeated and we can live together as Indians.
